San Antonio

We've been trying to make it a point to get out of Altus as much as we can. This may sound very negative, but believe me, it's for our sanity! So this weekend we went to San Antonio, my first real time in Texas. It's a pretty nice city and we had beautiful weather. That is definitely the highlight of being here right now, the good weather and missing the dark days in Alaska! So here are some pics from the weekend.

John made me go on a rollercoaster, I may look happy but I'm not, I hate those things!

Veteran's Day

Since Tuesday was a holiday, John had the day off, so we went to some family friends of his who have a little farm outside of Altus.

Good ol' Stormy

Oklahoma has something to brag about!

What a beautiful day!

You know you're in Oklahoma when...

The other night we went to dinner at Applebee's, one of the few resturants in Altus, and it was a little busy but not too bad. The waiter came and took our drink orders and left. About five minutes later he came back and said they were all out of glasses and were needing to wash them, he explained that he didn't want to give us dirty glasses, which was very nice of him. We a were a little curious at how that happens!

Sunday Pictures

Here is the view out our hotel "suite" in Altus, OK

Oklahoma!

I like to say we moved to Oklahoma, mostly because it drives John nuts, and then he kindly reminds me "we are not moving to Oklahoma." But really temporarily we are. John has been here for a week and I just got here yesterday after spending a week with family and friends! John is doing some training down here for about 6 weeks so he will be able to throw people and things out the back of the airplane! And I, well, I don't really know what I'm doing. Right now I'm hanging out, waiting for John to get out of his sim(similator). But I may do some subbing, I may read a lot of books, I may do some knitting, the possibilities are endless! One thing I've been doing and loving, is enjoying the weather! It's been a beautiful 75 degrees down here, while it is a blistery 22 degrees up in Anchorage! Not a bad way to spend the winter, well, half of it at least! So here we are in Altus, OK, where the only entertainment is to go to Walmart! Which I already did today.

Waking Up

This morning a woke up to a long whining/groaning sound. At first I thought it was my husband, but in the half sleep state I realized it was coming from outside. Looking out the window, there was a young bull moose scratching his horns on the tree in our front yard. I wish I had a picture to add but it was 3:30 in the morning, therefore, very dark! Just one of the those funny things to get used to here!

Sunday Pictures

John and I have decided to take a picture out our front window every Sunday morning from where ever we are at the time. This is today's picture, as you can see we are living in a winter wonderland! Which is beautiful and great, but it's October!
