Missing words and extra endings

So, did anyone else notice that I've botched the titles of my last two posts??? "Finally Europe Tour Post," should have said, "Final Europe Tour Post." And the last one "What one would in Altus, OK to keep busy," should have been "What one would DO in Altus, OK to keep busy." Apparently, I only proof the text and not the title, sometimes I don't even do that. One of my most common editing mistakes is leaving out words, as you all probably know! When I was in high school, this used to drive my mother nuts when she was proofing a paper for me. Maybe I could make it more like a game. Find the missing words!!


Well, I just wanted to call myself out on, since none of you were, y'all are so sweet. The mistakes are now corrected.

Lesson Learned

So the lesson is this:

Don't drive on the highway with a flat tire

Yes, you'd think I would have learned this one quite a while ago, since I have been driving for almost 12 years now. However, that is not the case. Last Saturday was "change the tires day" (we get to keep them on extra long up here). That evening I had an event to go to, and although John said he was unable put air in the tires, I just went on my way without even considering filling up the tires on the way.

Now, in my defense, it wasn't all four tires, it was just one and the back right one, no less. So in order for me to notice this, I would have had to deliberately walk around the car and take a look at the tires. Did I think to do this? No...

So I went to my event and afterward decided to drive and fill the tire up. Well, the tire may or may not have already been flat by the time I was able to get air in it. Needless to say, the damage was done. I filled up the tire and proceeded to drive home.

In case you are getting worried, I did make it home. It wasn't until the next day that John noticed a bulge in the side wall of the tire. So he made and appointment to get it fixed (Tuesday).

Side note: we bought this car on Craigslist from a Russian man. He had a thing for fancy tires. So when John called to make and appt. to get the tire fixed, they assured us that they carried this certain tire.

So Tuesday rolls around and we go to get the tire fixed. Well, the guys at the shop start to put a different tire on the car (2nd lesson learned: you can't put a different brand of tire on the same axle). John quickly stopped them and asked what they were doing. Apparently, they did not actually have the brand of tire we needed.

Plan B: call around town and find out who carries this brand. Hmmm. No luck, no one had even heard of this brand before.

Plan C: look online to see how much it would cost to buy the tire and get it shipped up here. Hmmm. $255, ouch.

Plan D: take car to another tire shop and get both tires on the axle replaced. Finally a solution, but an expensive one.

Final Lesson Learned: take the 2 minutes it takes to stop and get air put in the tire before you drive 10 miles on a highway; in the long run, it will save you a lot of money.

Yesterday I received this awesome baby sling in the mail, but I have no idea who sent it! Well, whoever you are, thank you very much, I love it and it's quite a bit more comfortable than the other one I have, especially for Sydney.

A New Device

After fighting it off for as long as I could, I am now part of the iPhone family. But at $50 you really can't beat that. Have you seen the phone I was using before? Let just say this is a bit of an upgrade.
So I downloaded an app that I can blog from, which is what I'm doing right now. Maybe this will help me keep up with my blogging. We'll see!

Blogger's Block

As most of you know, I've never been very good at blogging. I thought, "well, what is so interesting about my life that it's worth writing about, maybe when I have a kid I'll have more interesting things to write about." Now look, here I am, six weeks and all I can manage to post is a few pictures here and there (granted, they are darn cute pictures). However, I realize that this problem all goes back to a conversation I had with my mom when I was around 4th grade...

I was laying in bed one night, listening to my mom and older sister having a real heart to heart. After they were done, she came in and said good night one more time and I expressed to her my concern that her and I never share our "thoughts and feelings." My next words will forever haunt me... "then I realized I don't have any thoughts or feelings to tell you."

So there you have it, I have no thoughts or feelings, therefore, I have a very hard time blogging. Actually, I have founds that I do have some thoughts and feelings (although my mom will never let me forget those words), but I still have a hard time expressing them.

In closing, I do have a few ideas that I hope to post as long as I get some time. But if you have any other ideas for me, I would love to hear them. Sometimes I just need a little direction.
